Re: Does anyone actually REALLY enjoy football anymore?
The amount of football on tv now takes the sense of occasion out of the game.

Simply over kill, blanket coverage and the fact the champions league can be won by a team finishing 4th in thier domestic league sums it up for me.

Its habit rather than anything else.

Reckon is an age/time going thing myself

95% of matches for me have never really had same buzz, proper butterflies in stomach nerves hours before for the big games since I turned about 20

Exceptions of course but generally

Altho my 20th also coincided with the end of the terraces which obviously also massively changed the 'match day experience' to use the modern bollocks!!!

Well, how could you discuss how football has changed if you don't compare it across eras?

I don't like the cost of going to games these day, just booked a few seats for the QPR game, £58 for my Son-in-law and £33 for me , both included the £2 booking fee, whatever the score I won't be leaving early at those fucking prices.

Who was the manager of Fulham when they had that Europa Cup run and got to the final playing some nice stuff to the point where we had on here the usual slaggy comments of "we should be looking to do what Fulham are doing" ?

They used to let me in for free until I was taller than the turnstyles. Happy days

When I was a kid, you could decide to go to football on the day, rock up without a ticket, stand fairly cheaply with other supporters, sway to Bubbles if you followed West Ham United, watch a team of local English boys win the Cup, and most of your heroes only ever played for your Club in their career.

We used to bunk in two at a time through the turnstyles because someone at the Club was on the make, but no one ever questioned who or why.

Hardly any of it was on TV. The players were heroes, who lived in 4 bed detached houses in Emerson Park, and drove a Jaguar. They used to open sports shops and the like, and some of them played County cricket in the Summer.

It just isn't the same thing as before. England are irrelevant, cup competitions as well. I watched Morrison the other night playing in gloves, in August.

There's a lot less enjoyment in it now, I'm sad to say.

If you are my age, 63, I suspect you would say "no, I do not enjoy it, what's there to enjoy?"
As far as I'm concerned, it's a product well passed it's sell by date. The last day of the transfer window was the final nail for me.
Football is not in the real world any more.
Just my opinion mind.

Re: Does anyone actually REALLY enjoy football anymore?
You only have to see Falcao's wages to see that football is basically a load of old shit nowdays and how far removed they now are from the fans. Cunts like that don't drink in the local and chat to fanslike they used to.

Haven't enjoyed it for around 10 years apart from the Championship season which was quality.

Probably something to do with not watching diving prima dona's every week which made a nice change.

I only enjoy matches where KIA does a chicken dance and then Far Cough appears to be doing the royal wave next to him as a show of solidarity.

Simon, meeting friends and old acquaintances such as yourself and having a few jars is practically the only enjoyment I get

No I don't, partly the Prem/Sky bollocks and partly Fat Sam's football

Re: Does anyone actually REALLY enjoy football anymore?
Not really. Most people I know, only go for a booze. Ninety minutes spoiling a good day out, and all that. But as you get older, even that loses it appeal.

Same as Mad dog except make that 20 years and even West Ham is becoming a struggle at times, probably BFS style of play?
